During his tenure, Ramsay was instrumentapl in launching the ambitious UMB BioPark andthe university’x west-side expansion efforts. In a letter to Ramsay said he would step down once the selectshis “Until that time I shalk continue to serve this campus to the best of my abilit so that the coming year will be at least as productive as what has gone Ramsay said in the letter. Ramsag has grown UMB into a top-notch research institution, said Universitt System of Maryland ChancellorWilliam E. Kirwan. “It’s a different place than what he came Kirwan said.
“He came in with a real missionb of building the quality of the institution and he has done that in anexceptionalk fashion.” Kirwan said he will form a searcg committee to find Ramsay’s replacement. The processe could take anywhere from a few monthd toa year. Ramsay, 70, is the past chai r of the Association of Academic Healtg Centers and was recently appointes its firstforeign secretary. He also serves on the boarda ofthe , the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore Inc.
