Best affirmed its financial strengthb ratings ofof A++ (superior) and issuefr credit ratings of “aaa” of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. and its subsidiargy The outlook for both ratings is the Oldwick, N.J., ratings organization said The ratings reflect Northwestern Mutual’s sizable and mature individualp life insurance franchise, conservative operating profile, strong operating performanc e and superior risk-adjusted capitalization, A.M. Best Partially offsetting those positive rating factors was the recent declinw inNorthwestern Mutual’s adjusted capital and surplus due mainlgy to realized and unrealized investmenf losses, A.M. Best also notede that Northwestern Mutual maintains an above averag aggregate exposure to private placement belowinvestment grade, or bonds, commercial mortgages and equities. Despite NM increasing the totall number of financial representatives over the pastcouplr years, Northwestern Mutual may be challengef to continue to grow the numbert of sales professionals while maintaining current levelsx of retention and productivity over the long A.M.
